How to Use Chinese Learning Tools

What do I need to view these pages?

First of all, you need to have Chinese Simplified (GB) text encoding installed on your browser. This enables the chinese hanzi to be displayer properly on your screen. If you're getting garbled code instead of hanzi, try the links below and look for "GB" or Chinese Simplified encoding.

What do I need to view the movies?

The movie clips on Chinese Tools are saved in Quicktime *.mov files. You can get the latest version of the Quicktime plug-in below.

I've got everything I need now, how does the interface work?
After selecting a lesson from the lesson list, you will be directed to a page that displays the video clip, but not the lesson text.
1. Lesson Title
  Displays the title of the lesson
2. Hide/Show Toggle
  Either hides or shows the lesson text.
3. Video Screen
  Displays the movie clip and controls
4. Definition Links
  Click here for hanzi definitions
5. Dictionary Window
  Displays definitions
