The Oberlin Chinese program encourages students to study Chinese in China, favorably during their sophomore or junior year. Students can go aboard during their academic semesters or summer. Students can choose either the Oberlin-affiliated program or Oberlin approved program or similar programs. Studying at the Oberlin-affiliated program or the approved program during the academic year allows students to bring their Oberlin financial aid packet with them.  A maximum of 10-14 credits can be transferred back to Oberlin, upon approval of EAS.

Study abroad is highly recommended, because our program sees the value of being emerged in the culture as being integral in learning the Chinese language.
