Hi, I grew up in the Big Apple and I am rocking my third year here at Oberlin College. I came to Oberlin wanting to do everything, and I deliberately took courses I thought would be too hard, danced Ōtil my legs fell off, sang till my vocal chords ripped, wrote poetry, performed on stage howling and screeching like a monkey and, as a result, found out a lot about myself. Along with realizing that one can get a lot done in a year at college, I also found a family here at Oberlin in two activities: cooperative dining and a cappella singing/performance with the Obertones.
Some find being pre-med an intimidating prospect. I have two names: Professor Cruz and Carol Sedgwick. Find these two women and life becomes beautiful. One of the most fulfilling things I have done so far at Oberlin include setting out on a ten-day spring tour adventure, from New York to California, with ten guys, singing at high schools, on street corners, and in subways. We spread the good gift of music and got the Oberlin name out there to all who would listen.
In recent months, I have spent much of my time doing research in atmospheric chemistry with Professor Elrod. Research has been at times both the most frustrating and most rewarding academic challenge I have tackled at Oberlin. It has enhanced my ability to analyze problems, work efficiently, think creatively and present myself professionally.
In addition to answering questions about pre-med, chemistry and a cappella, I can field queries about community service, volunteer HIV peer testing, libraries/databases/reference resources, first-year theater showcase, Old English, Chinese language study, triathlon, and coop life. Please feel free to email, hail, or otherwise solicit me for answers to problems and concerns. ItÕs what we ambassadors are here for!

MATH 133: Calculus I. I know this is either just a requirement or pure evil-incarnate for some, but learning calculus makes one realize that numbers can be friends, and having more friends generally makes the world a better place.
CHIN 101: Elementary Chinese. Do it. All the cool kids are doing it. Just kidding—but no really, trust me: knowing Chinese is an incredible asset.
