Majors: environmental studies and psychology

Hi all! My name is Hannah and IÕm from Ann Arbor, Michigan. Oberlin has provided me with the opportunity to combine knowledge from my majors to conduct research in environmental psychology with a professor for credit. Feel free to ask me any questions about either of these fields, or how to get involved in research sooner than later during your time here at Oberlin.

At acronym-intensive Oberlin, I am part the OCET, OCDT, OCOC, and IYS. The first two are the Oberlin College Equestrian Team and Oberlin College Dressage Team. I have been on one or both of these teams during my time at Oberlin. Both are a great way for any skill level rider to take lessons, compete, or both. IÕm also a member of the Oberlin College Outing Club. I really enjoy hiking, camping, and being outside.

I also lead trips around the country during fall and spring break through Immerse Yourself in Service (IYS). Through IYS I have been to New Orleans (twice), Waveland, Mississippi, and Kentucky, to build houses, plant vegetable gardens, construct a grape vineyard, and much more. If you want to know more about any of these acronyms, please let me know.

When IÕm not involved with one of these activities, IÕm likely sitting outside with friends, watching funny movies, cheering on sports teams, or biking. I also love all farm animals, bees, road trips, 90s music, plants, hot cocoa, and super fun games.

Short List Of Favorites

Local Cuisine: Tacos from Agave. Where else can you get sweet potatoes on your Mexican food? Or, any baked good from Oberlin Market.

Favorite Author: Bill Bryson is one hilarious travel writer.

Favorite Under-advertised Resource at Oberlin: Recycled Products Co-op. This is a great way to find all of the school supplies you will ever need for free and be able to recycle your old half-used notebooks and binders. Also IYS is a great opportunity to have fun over breaks, get to meet new people, and do community service.

Favorite First-Year Courses

GEOL 120: EarthÕs Environments. All of the professors in this department are great. This class also allows you to go on some interesting geological field trips in the area that you may want to return to later.

PSYC 100: The Study of Behavior. A good introduction to the discipline that will allow you to take Social Psychology (PSYC 218) in the spring.
