Kantara Crafts is an entrepreneurial fair-trade business that exports quality artisanal goods from women's cooperatives in Morocco to the United States. Kantara seeks to establish local and long-lasting relationships on both the supply- and demand-side by bridging the gap between women artisans in Morocco and local, socially conscious communities in the United States. In addition to paying the women a living wage, Kantara will also reinvest a portion of its proceeds into local NGOs dedicated to the promotion of education and literacy, especially among women in rural areas.

We are developing stroke-level handwriting recognition algorithms that will give instant and specific feedback on the characters that users write, as well as an intelligent learning system that will manage their vocabulary and select characters for them to learn and review.

Music has a positive effect on people, promoting creative expression and discipline. Playing music can also be very social, and can serve as an excellent platform upon which to build friendships. Too many kids never get to experience these benefits, but Rockstarz Clinic hopes to change that, bringing the joy of music to as many kids as possible. Most kids don’t dream of being in the New York Philharmonic; they dream of being rock stars. Now they will be able to participate in a clinic that will teach them basic skills and that can stimulate a lifelong interest in music.
