When you contact the Oberlin College Counseling Center, chances are I'm the one with whom you'll be speaking. I have been on staff at the Counseling Center since 1993. Sometimes people are anxious about contacting the department, and it is my goal to make you feel welcome and to put you at ease. Whether you are a student wishing to make an appointment with one of the professional staff members at the Counseling Center, or a parent with concerns about a child at the college, your needs will be addressed professionally and confidentially. I look forward to hearing from you! |
Learn more about me: |
Between the two of us, my husband Dennis and I have five children, five grandchildren, and another on the way. We have two cats, Zoe and Simone who seem to think that we are their pets! Additionally, we have a German shepherd who keeps us all in line.
I love piano music. Having taken lessons on and off for years, my talent is limited to personal enjoyment, which may or may not be music to my family's ears. I particularly enjoy jazz, and one of my favorite artists is Keiko Matsui. If you would like to experience her unique brand of jazz, I recommend her CD entitled Sapphire. It's one of my favorites.
I've been a theater buff for years. It gives me great pleasure to direct the drama ministries at my church. I am incredibly fortunate to be able to work with very talented and capable individuals. We perform anything from brief skits to full-length productions.
As an avid gardener, most of my time during the spring, summer, and fall months is spent maintaining numerous flower beds, a strawberry patch, and extensive landscaping plants.
Although you probably won't find any of them published, I enjoy baking and coming up with new and interesting recipes. My local claim to fame is my Honey Lovin' Apple Pie, which earns rave reviews from folks at family reunions, block parties, and potlucks--not to mention the office staff! My biggests fans are my husband, Dennis, and son, Aaron who are more than willing to sample my latest concoctions with either a thumbs-up or thumbs-down.
I've taken an interest in photography the past few years, and will take photos of anyone who is willing to sit for me and put up with my obsession for clicking the shutter. The photos on this site were taken by me, as well as the majority of the photos on the Counseling Center website. I enjoy wandering around the Oberlin campus looking for interesting sites to photograph.
When I'm not outdoors digging in the dirt, baking in the kitchen, or prowling around with my camera, most likely you'll find me reading. I have a broad range of interests, and will read just about anything. I'm a fan of Christian fiction, and a series worth checking out is The Christ Clone Trilogy. For an easier read, and thoroughly enjoyable, check out Jan Karon's Mitford Series.
These photos
will give you a brief glimpse of my family and interests. Enjoy!
