Roy
Poper is Associate Professor of Trumpet at the Oberlin
College Conservatory of Music. Formerly the principal trumpet of
the Los Angeles Chamber Orchestra and LA Opera Orchestra, he has
also recorded hundreds of major motion picture film scores, was
a founding member of the Modern Brass Quintet, and was a member
of the Frank Zappa and the Mothers of Invention band. Previous
faculty appointments include the University of Southern California
Thornton School of Music, California Institute of the Arts, the
North Carolina School of the Arts, and the California State University – Northridge.
Considered the foremost protégé of the great pedagogue
James Stamp, Mr. Poper’s Guide to the Brasswind Methods
of James Stamp has become a best-seller among brass method
books.
Arto
Hoornweg has been a member of the Rotterdam
Philharmonic Orchestra since
1982,
where he played with all major conductors like Bernhard Haitink, Simon
Rattle and Valery Gergjev. He taught trumpet at
the Rotterdam Conservatory until 1984 and since then at the Utrecht Conservatory
(School of the Arts). He finished his solo diploma at the Rotterdam Conservatory
(1980) cum laude. He has been a member of the Netherlands
Wind Ensemble, and is a founding member of the Netherlands Brass Quintet,
with whom he played all over the world. Mr. Hoornweg played with all
major orchestras in the Netherlands and numerous chamber ensembles. He
has played in all
major cities
of the world. He made his debut as soloist with the Netherlands
Chamber Orchestra in the Amsterdam Concertgebouw at age 19, and was the
last student of James Stamp in Los Angeles, until his death in 1985. |
