In an ideal world, all travel would run according to schedule. Unfortunately, even the best-laid plans can go wrong if a plane is delayed or cancelled, luggage is lost and schedules in a foreign country can be hard to read.
For those unexpected delays, we have prepared the information below. Please read it carefully, download it, print it out and bring it with you on your trip. We will do all in our power to make sojourn in Italy as easy and comfortable for Oberlin in Italy students as possible, but ultimately you are in control of – and responsible for – your travel experience.
Below you will find the following information:

First of all, since many of you will be coming in by train from different locations at different times, go to the train station in Arezzo Representatives for Oberlin in Italy will be waiting for you at the train station in Arezzo (stay tuned for the exact location). You will be able to recognize us by the signs we are holding. To see where the train station is, click here. If you are not arriving by train, you should also come to the train station for directions (parking will be a lot easier by the train station, and it is much easier to find than Oberlin in Italy’s administrative office in Arezzo).
Between 9:00 am and 6:30 pm on Saturday, June 7. An opening reception will take place at 7:00 p.m.
- Passport
- Copy of Passport in separate location from Passport (for example: Passport on your person; copy of passport in your carry-on)
- Credit Card—If you bring more than one credit card, keep them in separate locations.
- Copy of credit card(s) in separate location from credit card (for example: credit card on your person; copy of credit card in your carry-on)
- ISTC card
- Any prescription drugs that you are taking at the time of your departure
- A map of Arezzo (download and print below))
- Oberlin in Italy phone number
- Address for lost luggage: (your name Oberlin in Italy administrative office address)
- Phone numbers and addresses of Youth Hostel and at least one hotel in Italy arrival city
- Phone numbers of addresses of Youth Hostel and at least one hotel in Arezzo
- International calling card in case stores are closed when you arrive and need to make a call
- Arezzo Info Packet (download below)

Have a cup of cappuccino and then check in at the train station between 9:00 am and 6:30 pm on Sunday, June 10.
Take a taxi directly to your assigned room at the address you will be given. Staff will have your room assignment and can get you settled.
Below is what you should do if you miss your flight and/or your flight is delayed:
If you arrive IN AREZZO before 9:30 pm
- Take a taxi or walk to the Oberlin in Italy office.
- The front desk will contact someone from our staff and we will help you get to your room.
If you arrive IN AREZZO after 9:30 pm
- You will have to stay at a youth hostel or a hotel for the night and we will get you settled in your room next day. See Lodging for links to hotels and youth hostels.
- Come by the Oberlin in Italy administrative office on Monday, June 9 between 9:00 am and 5:00 pm
Join us for the opening reception at 8:00 pm (location TBA) or come by the Oberlin in Italy administrative office on Monday, June 9 between 9:00 am and 5:00 pm and let us know that you have arrived.
