Guest
conductors of the Oberlin Orchestra have included Tan Dun, Igor
Stravinsky, Pierre Boulez, Sir Simon Rattle, Robert Shaw, Marin
Alsop, Hugh Wolff, Catherine Comet, Oscar Shumsky, Eve Queler,
and composer John Williams—most recently at the Getty Center
in Los Angeles. Additionally, Franz Welser-Möst rehearsed the
orchestra during the fall of 2003. Robert Spano, music director
of the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra, is a 1983 graduate of the
Oberlin Conservatory of Music and professsor of conducting at
his alma mater.
