St. Petersburg String Quartet
Quartet-in-Residence

Education: All members are graduates of Leningrad Conservatory.

Prizes and Awards: First Prize, All-Soviet Union String Quartet Competition, 1986; Laureate Title and Special Prize for best performance of required work, First International Shostakovich Competition for String Quartets, 1987; Silver Medal and Special Prize, International Competition of Chamber Ensembles, Tokyo, Japan, 1989;  First Prize and Special Prizes, Vittorio Gui International Competition for Chamber Ensembles in Florence, Italy, 1989;  First Prize and "Grand Prix Musica Viva", International Competition for Chamber Ensembles, Melbourne, Australia, 1991;"Best Chamber Music Album of 2001" from Chamber Music America and WQXR (for Hyperion recording of Shostakovich Quartets 5,7,& 9).

Performances: In US- Mostly Mozart at Lincoln Center (opening night), "Great Performances" series at Lincoln Center, the 92nd Street Y in New York, Caramoor (NY), the Los Angeles Music Guild, the Philadelphia Chamber Music Society, Smithsonian Institution, the Frick Collection in NYC, Tuscon Music Festival, Eastman School of Music Chamber Music Series.

Abroad- London's Wigmore Hall, the Concertgebouw (Holland), Frankfurt Museum Series, Munich and Alte Oper Frankfurt. Also concerts in Belgium, Italy, Spain, Switzerland, Mexico, Japan, North and South Korea, Taiwan, St. Petersburg, and Moscow.

Recordings: Complete Quartets of Tchaikovsky (Sony Classical), Prokofiev Quartets and Quartet No.1 by Zurab Naderejshvili (Delos), Glazunov Quartet No.5 and Novelettes (Delos), Quartets Nos.3, 5 & 7 of Shostakovich (Sony Classical), the CD of which was Grammy-nominated and chosen "Best Record of the Month" in Stereo Review and Gramophone, Complete Quartets of Borodin (Dorian), Complete Quartets of Shostakovich (Hyperion).
