Congress, Miami City Ballet, Lyric Opera of Chicago, Galena
Chamber Ensemble, and Basically Bach Festival.
Chamber music performances with cellists Anner Bylsma and
Leonard Rose, the Mirecourt Trio, the Vermeer Quartet, the
Smithsonian Chamber Players, and members of the Cleveland,
Chester, Orford, and Smithson quartets.
Premiere performances include Christian Woehr's
Concerto Pesante, Stephen Chatman's Northern
Drones, and Nathaniel Tull Philips' Water
Patterns.
Teaching Affiliations:
Prior to joining the Oberlin faculty, Mr. Slowik taught for
13 years at Northwestern University, where he was awarded
the McCormick Professorship for Teaching Excellence. He has
also served on the faculty of The Cleveland Institute of
Music, Wichita State University, and Bethel College.
Masterclasses: Mr. Slowik has presented masterclasses at Baylor
University, The Chicago Viola Society, the Cleveland
Institute of Music, Eastern Music Festival, the Eastman
School of Music, Encore School for Strings, Fischoff
National Chamber Music Competition, Indiana University,
Interlochen School for the Arts, XXIII International Viola
Congress, International Institute of Music, Mannes School of
Music, New England Conservatory of Music, Northern Illinois
University, Ohio Viola Society, Peabody Conservatory of

Mr. Slowik is President of the American Viola Society and
Artistic Director for Credo Chamber Music Association.
