Professor of Violin
Education:
B.M., Oberlin Conservatory, 1971: B.A. with honors in
mathematics, Oberlin College, 1971; M.M., 1979, D.M.A. 1987,
Juilliard School. Violin study with Ivan Galamian, Paul
Kling, Daniel Majeske, Dorothy DeLay.
Competitions:
First prize, 1980 Rockefeller International Violin
Competition.
Performances:
International soloist and recording artitst. Has
performed over 30 works with orchestra, including the
American Symphony and the Philadelphia Orchestra. European
tour sponsored by the Rockefeller Fondation, 1983. World
tour as "Einstein" with Philip Glass Ensemble, 1992. New
York recitals at 92nd Street Y, Merkin Hall, and Alice Tully
Hall. Performances at Grand Teton, Marboro, Santa Fe,
Musicorda and Bang on a Can fesitvals.
Professional Affiliations:
Former member, the Cleveland Orchestra, Audubon Quartet,
New York New Music Ensemble, and Honolulu Symphony
(concertmaster).
Recordings:
Recordings for Bridge Records include the complete
violin sonatas of Charles Ives and the Sonatas and Partitas
by J.S. Bach; other recordigs on New World, CRI, Albany,
Opus One and Nonesuch.
