David Boe
Chair, Organ Department
Professor of Organ and Harpsichord
"Mozart called it 'the king of instruments.'
While the organ can lay no claim to sovereignty at
Oberlin, it nevertheless has occupied a very prominent
place in our musical life. You can find out about the
superb and varied array of instruments that make up the
organ collection on campus by visiting the Organ
home page. Oberlin organ students over the
years have enjoyed not only this great asset but also the
stimulation of a very talented group of peers. As you can
well imagine, Oberlin provides a very special and
exciting environment in which to teach and learn. It has
been a source of enormous satisfaction to me to see
several generations of our graduates succeed and take on
prominent leadership roles in the profession as church
musicians, recitalists, and teachers."
