Top New York classical music critics, including Bernard Holland of the New York Times, Pulitzer Prize-winner Justin Davidson of Newsday, and Alex Ross of the New Yorker, were among nearly 20 members of the media to attend Oberlin’s Miller Theatre performances of Lost Highway, Olga Neuwirth’s refashioning of the David Lynch film. Both nights were sold out, and lines of people hoping for stand-by tickets formed in the Miller lobby.
Comments included this one from Alex Ross, responding to blogger David Salvage on Sequenza21.com: “For any number of ear-tingling passages — especially the Olga Neuwirth Techno Danceparty — it was worth seeing. The Oberlin players were fantastic.”
