Long considered one of America’s great orchestras, the Cleveland Orchestra stands today among the world’s most-revered symphonic ensembles. In concerts at home in Severance Hall, at Blossom Music Center, on tour, in radio and television broadcasts, and in its critically admired discography, the Cleveland Orchestra continues to set standards of performing excellence and imaginative programming that serve as models for audiences and performers alike. Franz Welser-Möst, on whom Oberlin conferred an honorary Doctor of Music degree in 2006, is the orchestra’s Music Director.

Principal Guest Conductor of the Berlin Staatsoper, Philippe Jordan has established himself as one of the most gifted and exciting conductors of his generation. He has worked with such orchestras as the Berlin Philharmonic and the Vienna and Detroit symphonies, and conducted operas at the Houston Grand and Metropolitan operas.

Pianist Angela Hewitt performs extensively throughout the world. Named Gramophone Artist of the Year for 2006, she is a highly sought after recitalist and has performed with such ensembles as the Cleveland Orchestra, Detroit and San Francisco symphonies, and the London Philharmonic.
