The quintet’s current members include Oberlin Conservatory of Music alumna Carol Wincenc ’71 on flute, oboist Stephen Taylor, clarinetist Charles Neidich, bassoonist Marc Goldberg, and William Purvis on horn. They will present a program that features Reicha’s Quintet in D Major, Haas’ Wind Quintet, Op. 10, Allegro and Andante (Fantasie in F) für eine Orgelwalze KV 608 by Mozart (arr. Purvis), and Harbison’s Quintet for Winds.
Reserved-seat tickets are $7 for students, $16 for seniors and those with an Oberlin College I.D., and $20 for the general public. They may be purchased in advance by calling Oberlin's Central Ticket Service at 1-800-371-0178. Tickets purchased at the door the night of the concert are an additional $3.
The New York Woodwind Quintet stands as America’s foremost woodwind ensemble. It has commissioned and premiered more than 20 compositions, some of which have become classics of the woodwind repertoire. The current members are all internationally recognized performers and teachers, and continue the quintet’s 15-year residency at the Juilliard School. The ensemble has recorded on such labels as Boston Skyline, Bridge, New World Records, and Nonesuch.
