Jack Marquardt began clarinet studies at age 10 and is now in his senior year at the Oberlin Conservatory of Music studying clarinet with Richard Hawkins. While at Oberlin, he has performed in the Oberlin Orchestra, Chamber Orchestra, and Wind Ensemble. A native of Lake Forest, Illinois, he was a member of the Chicago Youth Symphony Orchestra and Encore Chamber Orchestra, and was a guest winner in the Midwest Young Artists’ Walgreen’s Concerto competition. He spent two summers at the Aspen Music Festival and School, studying with Ted Oien, and he has also participated in the Brevard and Interlochen summer music festivals. He has also studied with Darleen Carl-Beck, Steve Cohen, Deborah Chodaki, and Robert Spring.
