While long recognized
as one of the world's preeminent
professional training institutions for serious musicians, Oberlin
has also topped the list of "schools that rock."
An article in the August 11 issue of Rolling Stone magazine
calls Oberlin "home to one of the best music conservatories
in the U.S." The ranking is culled from Rolling Stone's new
college guidebook, Schools That Rock: The Rolling Stone College
Guide (Wenner Books), written by the magazine's contributing
editor Jenny Eliscu and published this year.
"We
are always pleased when the Conservatory is recognized in the national
press for its excellence," says Dean of the Conservatory
David H. Stull. "Earlier this year the Washington Post called
us a ‘national treasure,' so when Rolling Stone offers
a similar opinion, it reinforces the extraordinary breadth and
quality for which our program is known."

That Rock: The Rolling Stone College Guide is available nationwide
