| Since her triumph
at the Tchaikovsky Competition in Moscow 10 years ago, when she
was still a double-degree student at Oberlin majoring in violin
performance and English, violinist Jennifer Koh has dazzled audiences
with her intensity, classical poise, and elegance.
Now, she returns to her alma mater as
the first performer in Oberlin's
Artist Recital Series Thursday,
October 14, at 8 p.m. in Finney Chapel.
Called a "scorching talent" by The Strad , Koh
will be accompanied by pianist Reiko Uchida in a program featuring
Schumann's Sonata
for Violin and Piano, A minor and his Fantasiestucke ,
John Adams' Road Movies , Ravel's Sonata for Violin and
Piano , Salonen's Lachen verlernt , and Waxman's Carmen
Fantasy .
Through the generous sponsorship of the Riverside Company, a leading
private equity firm investing in premier companies, the concert
will be broadcast live on 104.9 FM WCLV , Cleveland's classical
station.
Tickets are $7 for students; $16 for
seniors, area educators, and those with an Oberlin College I.D.;
and $20 for the general public and are available through Oberlin's
