Internationally Acclaimed Violinist Jennifer Koh '97 Launches Artist Recital Series

Since her triumph at the Tchaikovsky Competition in Moscow 10 years ago, when she was still a double-degree student at Oberlin majoring in violin performance and English, violinist Jennifer Koh has dazzled audiences with her intensity, classical poise, and elegance.

Now, she returns to her alma mater as the first performer in Oberlin's Artist Recital Series Thursday, October 14, at 8 p.m. in Finney Chapel.

Called a "scorching talent" by The Strad , Koh will be accompanied by pianist Reiko Uchida in a program featuring Schumann's Sonata for Violin and Piano, A minor and his Fantasiestucke , John Adams' Road Movies , Ravel's Sonata for Violin and Piano , Salonen's Lachen verlernt , and Waxman's Carmen Fantasy .

Through the generous sponsorship of the Riverside Company, a leading private equity firm investing in premier companies, the concert will be broadcast live on 104.9 FM WCLV , Cleveland's classical station.

Tickets are $7 for students; $16 for seniors, area educators, and those with an Oberlin College I.D.; and $20 for the general public and are available through Oberlin's Central Ticket Service. Please call 440-775-8169 for more information.
