	Back to the main story		Composer Keeril Makan '94 also received an award this year from the American Academy of Arts and Letters. Makan was honored with the Charles Ives Scholarship, an award given to "students of great promise." Makan studied at Oberlin with composition faculty members Richard Hoffmann and Randolph Coleman. He is completing his doctoral degree in composition at the University of California, Berkeley.
