Elena Loskova Biography

Pianist Elena Loskova '03 will perform this Sunday, April 6, at 8 p.m. in Finney Chapel. A winner of this year's Concerto Competition, Loskova will perform with the Oberlin Orchestra, conducted by Associate Professor of Conducting Steven Smith.

The concert, which is free and open to the public, features Loskova, accompanied by the Orchestra, performing George Gershwin's Rhapsody in Blue. The program also includes "Four Sea Interludes" from Benjamin Britten's Peter Grimes and Johannes Brahms' Symphony No. 4.

Loskova will be performing on a Steinway grand piano--one of nearly 200 Steinways in the Oberlin Conservatory of Music's collection of 1,700 period and modern instruments.

This year marks the 150th anniversary of Steinway & Sons. Oberlin's relationship with the esteemed company is nearly that long. Its oldest continuous client, Oberlin began its partnership with Steinway more than 125 years ago.

During intermission, Sally Coveleskie, director of institutional sales for Steinway & Sons, will honor the occasion with a presentation to Dean of the Conservatory Robert K. Dodson.
