Men rush to their doom like moths flying to their death in the candle-flame.
-Bhagavad Gita

"Death of the Moth," a multi-media performance piece, will receive its world premiere Wednesday, March 19, at 8 p.m. in Finney Chapel. A collaboration between composer Tom Lopez, Assistant Professor of Computer Music and Digital Arts, and filmmakers Rian Brown-Orso, Assistant Professor of Studio Art and Hege Royert of Norway, the piece is presented by the Oberlin Contemporary Music Ensemble (CME), under the direction of Associate Professor of Conducting Timothy Weiss.

The program includes another world premiere, "the soadie waste" by Scottish composer James Dillon--commissioned by the CME especially for this performance--and two American premieres: Dillon's "... Once Upon a Time" and "La Variation Ajouteè" by French composer Gilbert Amy.
