Four Named Winners of 2002-03 Concerto Competition

ELENA LOSKOVA
Pianist

Born in Zaporogzije, Ukraine, Elena Loskova began piano studies at the age of six. She graduated from Magadan College of Music in Russia at the age of 18 and went on to the Gnessin Academy of Music in Moscow. Her teachers include R. Mavropoulo, Y. Ponizovkin, and W. Blankenheim.

Loskova is in her senior year of studies with Professor Monique Duphil at the Oberlin Conservatory of Music at Oberlin College, where she received the Dean's Talent Award as part of her full scholarship. In 2001, she was the winner of Oberlin's W.R. Abate Memorial Prize in Piano, and she also was one of four winners in the Conservatory's concerto competition this fall.

Loskova participated in the 2001 Van Cliburn Piano Institute in Fort Worth, Texas, and the 2002 International Keyboard Institute at the Mannes College of Music in New York. She has given solo and chamber music recitals in Russia, Ukraine, Germany, and the U.S., and she is an active chamber musician, vocal coach, and teacher.
