Poet Langston Hughes

In case unchangeable plans kept you away from Finney Chapel on Wednesday, November 20, your radio was on the fritz, and your computer was down, you have one more chance to hear Wendell Logan's bluesy, jazzy, musical homage to Langston Hughes' "Ask Your Mama."

The work for big band, soprano, and tenor composed by Logan, Chair of the Jazz Studies Program and Professor of African American Music, broadcast live on WCPN 90.3 FM, will air again on Sunday, November 24, between 1 and 3 p.m.

The work, about an hour in length, will air as part of JazzTracks, hosted by Bobby Jackson. Far-flung listeners can pick up the broadcast on wcpn.org. Logan conducted the Oberlin Jazz Ensemble (OJE) in the performance, which featured vocalists William Brown and Ki Allen, as part of "Centennial Celebration: In Memory of Langston Hughes."
