The
next live Oberlin broadcast on WCLV-104.9
FM showcases the Oberlin Wind Ensemble, conducted by Associate Professor
of Wind Conducting Timothy
Weiss, on Friday, April 12, at 8:00 p.m. The free, public concert,
which takes place in Finney Chapel, features Milhaud's La Création
du Monde; George Antheil's Jazz Symphony; George Gershwin's
Rhapsody in Blue; and Leonard Bernstein's Prelude, Fugue and
Riffs. Featured soloists are Assistant Professor of Class Piano and
Pedagogy Andrew Hisey and
Assistant Professor of Clarinet Richard
Hawkins.

WCLV President and Broadcast
Manager Robert Conrad will be the commentator and will interview Weiss
during the intermission break.
On
Wednesday, April 17, an 8:00 p.m., WCLV will air live the Finney Chapel
recital of Visiting Assistant Professor of Piano
Antonio Pompa-Baldi, winner of the silver medal in the 2001 Van Cliburn
International Piano Competition. He will perform Mozarts Sonata
in F Major, K. 332; Rheinbergers Sonata No. 1 (Sinfonica), Op. 47
in C Major; Debussys Suite Bergamasque; and Brahms Variations
on a Theme by Paganini, Op. 35. Program Manager Bill OConnell will
be the commentator.
The concert is free and open to the public.
Looking ahead, on Sunday May
5, at 8:00 p.m., WCLV will broadcast live a concert by the Oberlin Musical
Union and Oberlin Orchestra, conducted by Music Director of the Oberlin
Conservatory Orchestras Paul
Polivnick. The program will feature Mahlers Symphony No. 2 (Resurrection).
