Oberlin’s CD of the Week features composer and Oberlin Conservatory graduate Christopher Rouse '71 with the Teldec Classics recording of his Concert de Gaudí for Guitar and Orchestra, winner of this year’s Grammy Award for Best Classical Contemporary Composition. Excerpts from this CD will be played on WCLV, 104.9 FM, once a day each day this week and will be accompanied by a brief discussion with Robert Conrad, the station's manager, regarding the significance of this recording to the classical music world.

Christopher Rouse was awarded a Pulitzer Prize in Music in 1993 for his Trombone Concerto and in 2002 was elected into the American Academy of Arts and Letters.
Concert de Gaudí, commissioned jointly by the NDR Symphony Orchestra in Hamburg and the Dallas Symphony, was inspired by the exotic and fanciful designs of Spanish architect Antoni Gaudí. This recording features guitarist Sharon Isbin, conductor Muhai Tang, and the Gulbenkian Orchestra.

This recording is part of Oberlin's CD of the Week series-- a new program airing from WCLV, Cleveland's classical music station. The series highlights recordings which feature Oberlin's faculty, alumni, and students.
