Living Composers Featured in Two Upcoming Concerts

The music of Elliott Carter and Gyorgy Ligeti will be showcased in two concerts titled Music of Living Composers. The first, on Sunday April 22 at 8 p.m. in Warner Concert Hall, will feature performances by Oberlin Conservatory faculty and students. The second concert takes place Saturday, April 28, at 4:30 p.m. in Warner Concert Hall, and features the Pacifica Quartet. Both concerts are free and open to the public.
The first program includes Carters Sonata for Violoncello and Piano, featuring seniors Robin Reynolds and SeungShin Yoo; Ligetis Sonata for Solo Viola, featuring senior Wendy Richman; Carters 90+, featuring sophomore Michael Gallope, Elegy, featuring Richman and Gallope, and Scrivo in Vento, featuring Kathleen Chastain, faculty teacher of flute and chamber music; and Ligetis Trio for Violin, Horn and Piano, featuring sophomore Elizabeth Weisser, double-degree senior James Priest, and Gallope.
