Hristo Popov Hristo Popov, violinist, was born in Plovdiv, Bulgaria to a family of Jewish descent. He is a graduate of the Idyllwild Arts Academy and the Oberlin Conservatory of Music. He was a prize winner at the 1991 Kozian International Violin Competition, winner of the 1996 California Young Artist Competition and winner of the International Institute of Music Award in Germany. Popov has appeared on numerous television and radio stations around the world, and has given recitals and performed with orchestras in the United States, Europe and Mexico. He has performed chamber music with musicians from the Park City Chamber Music Society, the Saint Louis Symphony Orchestra, and the Cleveland Orchestra. His teachers include Wolfgang Marschner, Todor Pelev, Michael Tseitlin, Oleh Krysa, and Taras Gabora. Popov teaches violin at the Firelands Symphony School of the Arts in Sandusky, Ohio.
