Award-winning film composer Gary Chang (Under Siege, The Breakfast Club,) will present a career masterclass Monday, March 5, from noon to 1:30 P.M., in Bibbins room 238 in the Conservatory. Chang will also be a featured guest on WOBC radio March 5 from 3 to 5 P.M.

Chang’s appearance is sponsored by the Contemporary Music Division; he is the second of three composers presenting lectures and masterclasses at the Conservatory in February and March.

Chang’s credits in film include The Island of Dr. Moreau, The Breakfast Club, Under Siege, The Walking Dead, The Substitute, and Miami Blues, among many others. He has also composed extensively for television, including The Crossing for the Arts & Entertainment Network, and Stephen King’s Emmy Award-winning Storm of the Century for ABC. Chang is a recipient of the National Endowment of the Arts Grant for Jazz Composers, and has won numerous awards, including the Gold Plaque at the Chicago International Film Festival in 1981.

Composer Halim El-Dabh will be the third and final guest composer, presenting lectures and a concert at Oberlin in March.
