Guest Artist Richard Raymond Featured in Faculty Recital February 24

The Renowned Richard Raymond


Professor of Violoncello and Chamber Music Andor Toth will be joined by renowned Canadian pianist Richard Raymond in a free, public recital featuring works by Beethoven, Kodaly, Debussy, Franck and Piazzola on Saturday, February 24 at 8 p.m., in Kulas Recital Hall.

Raymond has been awarded top prizes in such prestigious competitions as the Montreal International Competition, the William Kapell International Piano Cpmpetition, and the Vianna da Motta Competition. He has also won the Chamber Music Prize at the Van Cliburn Competition. This is the first collaboration between Raymond and Toth, who were both jurors at the 2000 National Canadian Music Competition.

The program will include Ludwig van Beethoven’s Variations on a Theme from The Magic Flute, WoO. 46; Zoltán Kodály’s Sonate, Op. 4; Claude Debussy’s Sonate; César Franck’s Sonata in A major; and Astor Piazzola’s Le Grande Tango.
