Oberlin Music Coalition to Present Annual Winter Children's Concert February 3 by Scott Mello '01
			The Oberlin Music Coalition, a community outreach organization managed and staffed by students at the Oberlin College Conservatory of Music, will present their annual winter children's concert on Saturday, February 3 at 2 P.M. in the Conservatory's Warner Concert Hall, located on the corner of Professor and East College Street. This year's concert features the Oberlin Music Coalition All-Star Orchestra, comprised of Conservatory students andconducted by John Goodell (OC '98). The ensemble will perform the music of Copland, Mozart, Blake, and Tchaikovsky in collaboration with narration, soloists, multi-media, and dancers. One-half hour before the concert, at 1:30 P.M., the audience will be invited to explore a "musical petting zoo" in the Warner Concert Hall lobby. This pre-concert event will allow children of all ages to see and touch the orchestral instruments they soon will hear. Both events are free and open to the public. The Oberlin Music Coalition is a student-organized outreach program now celebrating its sixth year. Founded in 1994, the Coalition continues to pursue its mission by facilitating musical interaction between Oberlin students and the broader Oberlin community. The Coalition offers private lessons, music workshops, and an annual winter children's concert. All Oberlin Music Coalition events are free and open to the public.
