by Charity Johnson '99

Henry Mollicone, composer of the operas Coyote Tales--performed by the Oberlin Opera Theater Program in November--and The Face on the Barroom Floor, will present a pre-production public lecture and master class Thursday, February 1, from 2:00 until 4:00 P.M., in Kulas Recital Hall. Mollicone's offering will feature singers from the upcoming winter term production of Starbird, another Mollicone work.

Mollicone will discuss the musical aspects of performing an opera and his compositional techniques. He also will coach singers Holly Matyas ’02, and Kristen Leich ’03, as they perform music from Starbird. A question and answer session will follow.

Mollicone will conduct performances of Starbird Friday, February 2 and Saturday, February 3, at 8:00 P.M. in Wilder Main.
