Renowned Music Educator Robert Duke Presents Lecture Dec. 7

Dr. Robert Duke, Professor of Fine Arts at the University of Texas at Austin, will present a lecture titled "Developing Lifelong Musicians" Thursday, Dec. 7, at 1:30 PM in Bibbins room 237, in the Conservatory. The lecture, sponsored by the music education department, is open to music education majors, conducting students, and other interested Conservatory students.

Duke's work has been presented at national and international conferences for music education, music therapy, and music psychology, and appears in major research journals and texts. He has directed national research efforts under the sponsorship of the National Piano Foundation and the International Suzuki Institute.

Dr. Duke serves on the editorial boards of the Journal of Research in Music Education, the Bulletin of the Council for Research in Music Education, and Psychomusicology, and is editor of Texas Music Education Research. He has worked closely with at-risk children -- both in the public schools and through the juvenile court system -- and remains an active clinician and researcher in music learning, systematic observation and evaluation, and behavior management.
