Oberlin Contemporary Music Ensemble Premieres The Gardens Of Exile in Nov. 16 Concert

The Oberlin Contemporary Music Ensemble, conducted by Associate Professor of Conducting Timothy Weiss, presents its second concert of the fall semester on Thursday, Nov. 16, at 8:00 PM in Finney Chapel. The program includes the North American premiere of Gerard Schürmann's The Gardens of Exile, featuring Professor of Cello Peter Rejto as soloist.

Schürmann will be in the audience for the premiere. Other works on the program are Assistant Professor of Composition Jeffrey Mumford's distinct echoes of glimmering daylight (in memoriam Peter Brown), featuring master's student Emily Fowler, violin; junior Wendy Richman, viola; and junior Yue Tang, cello; Libby Larsen's Songs of Light and Love, featuring Associate Professor of Singing Marlene Ralis Rosen; Lee Hyla's Pre-Pulse; and Milton Babbitt's All set: for jazz ensemble.
