The energy was high at Monday's dress rehearsal of "Don Giovanni," the Oberlin Opera Theater's production that plays March 15, 17, 18 (8 p.m.) and 19 (2 p.m.), in Hall Auditorium. This production is directed by Jonathon Field, director of opera theater, and conducted by Paul Polivnick, Oberlin music director. Following months of planning, set design and construction, costume and lighting design, and orchestral and vocal rehearsals (with two casts), Oberlin's contemporary production of "Don Giovanni," set in the 1930s, is ready to seduce Oberlin audiences into an evening of beautiful music and high drama. Take a look backstage as the cast and crew put on the finishing touches for a final rehearsal before the performance opens Wednesday night. Unfortunately, the production is sold out! However, Standing Room tickets ($3 each) are available at each performance (check at the ticket window). For future performances, purchase tickets in advance through Oberlin College Central Ticket Service (CTS): 440/775-8169. |
