Peggy D. Bennett

Peggy D. Bennett is professor of music education and director of the early childhood program MusicPlay at the Oberlin Conservatory. An active clinician-teacher and speaker, she has given presentations at conventions, university courses, and school district in-service workshops in more than 20 states, as well as in Australia, Canada, and Japan.

The author of pedagogical and research articles, Bennett has co-authored three books: SongWorks 1: Singing in the Education of Children (1997, Wadsworth), SongWorks 2: Singing from Sound to Symbol (1999, Wadsworth), and SongPlay: A Collection of Playful Songs for Children (1999, Hal Leonard), and she has contributed to four other books. She has served on the editorial boards of Music Educators Journal, Southwestern Musician, and Music EdVentures, Inc., and has been vice president of the Texas Music Educators Association's college division.

Bennett's honors include the Chancellor's Award for Excellence in Teaching at University of Texas at Arlington and the Outstanding Alumna Award from the colleges of music at both the University of North Texas and Ball State University. Bennett and her husband Harley live in Oberlin, Ohio, and Bozeman, Montana.
