picture of north quad and students reading thereIn Oberlin, anything north of Lorain Street is considered "north campus."

North campus has many residence halls, some with special characteristics. Barrows is the all-first-year dorm. East Hall is generally a laid-back dorm; it contains the quiet floor. Zechiel House (generally called "Zeke"), is convieniently located across the street from the athletics facilities. Burton houses the student newspaper, and Barnard is the smallest dorm. Langston, also known as North (below), and Noah share North Quad with these dorms.

North Quad (above right) is the center of life in north campus. On warm spring and fall days, North Quad is full of students reading, playing frisbee, juggling, and enjoying the sunshine. In cold weather, Obies like to build snowpeople on North Quad.

Picture of North HallThe Science Center, athletics complex, and Stevenson, the main dining hall, are all on north campus as well. Carnegie sits beside Stevenson and houses many offices that provide student services, including the Office of Financial Aid, Admissions, the Registrar, Student Accounts, and Student Employment. The geology department is also located in Carnegie.
