Lifelong
friends John Flansburgh and John Linnell started TMBG
in 1983, and released their first two albums on the independent
label Bar/None. Their quirky style and catchy melodies
soon became popular with college students, but it was
with the 1990 release of Flood that the group won an international
audience and scored a top ten single with "Birdhouse
In Your Soul." In the early 90s they joined forces
with with guitarist Dan Miller, bassist Dan Wienkauf,
and drummer Dan Hickey. |

A
chance meeting in between Mitch Allan and Jeff Reid brought
together the first members of SR-71. The two teamed up
with drummer Dan Garvin and Guitarist Mark Beauchemin
and were first known as Honor Among Thieves. In 1998 RCA
signed the group following successful performance and
a self-produced and distributed indie CD. Their recent
self-titled CD is full of songs that tackle intelligent
issues while drawing from the pure sound of drums, guitars
and vocals. Drummer John Allen has since joined the band. |
