Laura Sands

Associate at The Clark Group

Laura Sands is an Associate at The Clark Group, a bipartisan Washington, D.C.-based consulting firm that specializes in environmental and public policy.

Based in the Wyoming office, Laura develops strategies for nonprofit and business clients to further public policies on agricultural and bioeconomy initiatives, climate change and renewable energy. She also develops effective messaging strategies to build coalitions among non traditional constituencies and agriculture.

Prior to joining the Clark Group, Laura worked in several venues as a journalist specializing in agriculture and trade issues. She first worked for Knight Ridder newspapers. In 1984, Laura began working for Farm Journal Media in Washington D.C. While in D.C., she was also a commentator on U.S. farm economics and trade issues for the British Broadcasting Corporation, or the BBC. Throughout her career, Laura received dozens of awards for her news coverage and analysis of agriculture, U.S. trade policy and global economic issues.

In 1992, Laura began working as an independent marketing consultant, serving global clients such as the United Soybean Board, Merck, Syngenta and others. From 1997-2003, she again worked for Farm Journal Media, working as Features Editor for Top Producer, the most award winning magazine in the agricultural business field.

Laura has worked on numerous national agricultural projects and has also served on the national board of directors for the American Agricultural Editors Association.
