A minimum configuration is required in order to use the Resnet network, but these will not allow one to take full advantage of what Resnet and the Internet have to offer. In fact, some people whose computers meet the minimum requirements end up feeling that the additional cost of a network card, should their machine need one, is not worth the limited services that their computer can access. With that in mind, the CIT has established recommended configurations that we feel will be able to take advantage of a Resnet connection for four years at Oberlin. These configurations are by no means a guarantee that in four years the same configuration will still be able to handle all networking needs; the computer industry develops much too fast for that to ever happen.
