Acceptable-Use Policy and Copyright Guidelines

It is extremely important for the security and integrity of the College's Information Technology (IT) resources that everyone in the College community (students, faculty, and staff), as well as any others that may use the College's IT resources (visitors, conference attendees, guests, etc.) adhere to the guidelines noted in the Acceptable-Use Policy. (See link at left.)

In addition, all College IT resource users are required to follow Copyright Law. Copyright Law allows institutions of higher education to provide some materials as part of the "fair use" practice. However, use of many materials requires pre-approval from the applicable copyright-granting authority, or requires purchase of the desired material.

Persons found to be in violation of copyright law due to possession, or storage on their assigned or personal computers, of unauthorized sound recordings, music files, video, or interactive digital files (games) will have their network access immediately disabled, in compliance with the Digital Millennium Copyright Act .

  • Violations by students are adjudicated through the established Judicial Board process.
  • Violations by faculty or staff members are reported to the applicable department head for adjudication.
