Vacation Message

Everyone has the capability to set up a vacation message, used when one is out of town on business, on vacation, etc.

This service allows you to enter a start and stop date for the message, and it will thus begin automatically, and end automatically, without the user having to take any further action.

You can also determine how frequently you want your message to be sent to routine correspondents. For example, if you receive mail daily from a listserv, you will probably only want the automated reply notifying the sender you are out of town to be sent once every so many days. The default setting is 7 days, but you have the option of setting this as desired.

To set up the vacation message, follow the steps below. You can view an online tutorial on setting up a vacation message.

  • logon to ObieMail
  • select the Options tab
  • select Vacation Message
  • check Enable automatic vacation reply
  • enter applicable start and stop dates
  • enter desired number of days between repeat responses in the Number of days between replies to repeat senders box (default is 7)
  • include a subject for your message
  • include the text you wish to appear in your response message (Note: you can include a different message to be sent as a response to internal Oberlin College mail)
