During Winter Term, January 2007, CIT completed many projects, including: server maintenance, upgrades, software installations, computer deliveries, equipment installations, and other projects. Winter Term is always busy time for us, as we try to accomplish as much as possible before the spring semester begins. The schedule to date is below:

12 Noon, 03 January	Install hotfix on mail server	Mail server down for approximately 5-15 minutes
7:30 A.M., 04 January	SAN (Storage Area Network) maintenance	Mail services down for a short period
7:30 A.M., 08 January	SAN maintenance	Mail services down for a short period
7:30 A.M., 09 January	Resnet network modifications (udp ports)	No impact projected - see online article for more details
12 Noon, 09 January	Install upgraded network equipment to allow for increased total bandwidth capability	Internet access unavailable during installation; expected to take no more than 30 minutes
10 January	The server known as OCNS1 will be retired	No impact to users, except those previously notified
7:30-8:00 A.M., 10 & 11 January	Install Daylight Savings Time patch on the following servers: 2 DNS servers, listserv/EZProxy server, MeetingMaker/Footprints server	Listserv/EZProxy and one DNS server will be completed on 10 Jan.; MeetingMaker/Footprints and other DNS will be completed on 11 Jan. Downtime for these systems will be approximately 15 minutes each
Moved to February	Resnet network modifications (tcp ports < 1024)	No impact projected - see online article for more details
All day, 18 January	Upgrade to latest version of spam filtering product	Will possibly require several reboots of spam server; users will experience delays in mail delivery
23-25 January	Blackboard training - training on new Blackboard product by OCTET and Blackboard personnel	Training for previously-notified users
24 January	Upgrade MeetingMaker to version 8.5.3	MeetingMaker will be unavailable to all MeetingMaker users from 12 A.M. January 24th until approximately 12 noon January 24.
Moved to February	Resnet network modifications (tcp ports > or = 1024)	No impact projected - see online article for more details
January	Install Manifold software application in Severance 132A, Psychology Lab	Lab unavailable on day of installation
January	Install updated version of Kurzweil software	Software unavailable during installation
January	Install new server(s) to house software application license managers	Applications unavailable in labs during installation: ERDAS, Kurzweil, Mathcad, Mathematica
January	Setup and delivery of new computers to staff, as scheduled	Impact to specific users only
January	Installation of additional Retrospect backup server	Little to no impact on users
January	Setup and delivery of trickle-down computers to Development phone room	No impact on users
January	Modifications to wireless configuration; includes reconfiguration of Wireless Access Points	Will start during Winter Term and will take approximately one month to complete; users will experience brief wireless outages as the reconfiguration takes place
January	Preparation and planning for March 14-16 GLITTER 2007 Conference	No impact on users
January	Planning meeting with Conference Services re: summer 2007 schedule	No impact on users
