Power Outage Will Affect All Computer & Network Services [22May08]

22 May 2008

The Facilities Department is planning a power shutdown 13-14 June for required maintenance that will require ALL computer and network systems to be shut down. The shutdown of all computer/network services (i.e., e-mail, Internet access, VPN, etc.) is scheduled to begin at 10:00 P.M. on Friday, 13 June 2008, and is expected to end at approximately midnight, Saturday, 14 June (thus, down all day Saturday). Administrative systems, including Banner, PRESTO, and FAMIS, will have an extended period of downtime, lasting until 6:30 A.M., Monday, 16 June, in order to perform required upgrades. The time-frame for having services restored will be delayed if any significant problems are encountered during the Facilities maintenance activities. In addition, since the Facilities maintenance involves outside electrical work, this work will be delayed or rescheduled in the event of a thunderstorm.
