Warranty Information: Please Read Carefully

The Oberlin College Computer Store is an authorized warranty repair center for Apple and Dell computers. The Store is not, however, a repair center for Dell Inspiron, Toshiba and Hewlett-Packard, at this time. Students may contact the Store first with problems, but they may have to have their product serviced direct by the manufacturer. The Center for Information Technology's Help Line, which students may call with preliminary questions is x8197. The line is open M-F 8am-12pm and 1pm-5pm.

APPLE

Apple One-Year Limited Warranty:

Warranty Coverage Apple Computer, Inc. ("Apple") warrants their hardware products against defects in materials and workmanship for a period of ONE (1) YEAR from the date of original retail purchase. If a defect exists, at its option Apple will (1) repair the product at no charge, using new or refurbished replacement parts, (2) exchange the product with a product that is new or which has been manufactured from new or serviceable used parts and is at least functionally equivalent to the original product, or (3) refund the purchase price of the product. A replacement product assumes the remaining warranty of the original product or 90 days, whichever provides longer coverage for you. Obtaining Warranty Service To locate an Authorized Service Provider, other than The Computer Store, call any Authorized Apple Reseller or visit AppleÕs web site at http://www.apple.com/ Note: Data recovery is not included in the warranty service and Apple is not responsible for data that may be lost or damaged during transit or a repair.

DELL

OptiPlex GX1 Warranty Coverage: Dell's standard three-year warranty includes:

  • One year of on-site service and two years of parts delivery service for the Dell OptiPlex systems.
  • Openline¨ 24-Hour Toll free Support: During the first 30 days of ownership, customers can turn to Dell's hot-line support with any questions concerning installation and configuration of factory-installed software, including Windows¨ 95 & Windows¨ 98. Dell AutoTech, TechFaxSM, Bulletin Board and Online Services. TechFax fax-back service is available 24 hours a day to provide answers to technical questions.

HEWLETT-PACKARD

Hewlett Packard warrants that HP printer products will be free from defects in materials and workmanship for a period of one year. All software and printer cartridges carry a 90 day warranty. For details and restrictions please visit the Hewlett-Packard web site at: http://www.hewlett-packard.com. Do a search for "warranty" on this site for easy access to warranty information. TOSHIBA

T-Plan (For Satellite 330 Series) Under the T-PLAN, Toshiba warrants that each Toshiba Portable Personal Computer, including the battery, accessories, and/or peripherals ("Products") you have purchased are free from defects in materials or workmanship under normal use.

The warranty period began the day you purchased a new Toshiba portable computer. Either your sales receipt as proof of purchase or an official Toshiba Warranty Confirmation Label is required to receive T-PLAN warranty service in the United States. For your convenience and to expedite warranty service, Product registration is strongly recommended. To register with Toshiba, return your completed Product Registration form as soon as possible in the envelope provided.

T-Plus

T-PLUS allows you to extend the one year T-Plan, Limited Warranty for your Toshiba portable computer an additional two years. To enroll in the T-PLUS extended warranty program, fill in the T-PLUS section of the Product Registration form. T-PLUS coverage only applies to your Toshiba portable personal computer and any accessories originally packaged or bundled with your computer (computer batteries excluded).
