There are several ways to get assistance with a computer question or problem:
Everyone:
- Send a message to cit@oberlin.edu. Messages are read at all times by many CIT staff members, from student staff to regular Client Services staff members and other regular staff.
- Check the CIT web pages for information.
- Visit the CIT Wiki for answers to FAQs and other "how-to" information.
In addition, specific facilities are available to specific groups:
Students:
- Visit Technology Services in the Academic Commons, main level of Mudd Center, Room 112B. This location will be staffed mainly in the afternoon and evening hours. Students may bring their computers in for technical assistance, such as help connecting to the residential network (Resnet) or may stop by to ask other computer-related questions.
- Visit the Information Desk in the Academic Commons. The Information Desk has two parts, one staffed by Reference Librarians, and one staffed at various times by a CIT student staff member. The CIT person will be available to answer questions about use of software on the Commons' workstations, or resolve problems with those workstations and/or the onsite printers.
Faculty and Staff:
- Call the CIT Help Desk at x58197.
- Visit the Help Desk, room Mudd 005 on Level A in Mudd Center.
- Faculty needing help with the use of technology for classes and research should contact the Oberlin Center for Technologically Enhanced Teaching (OCTET), octet@oberlin.edu, x58345.
