Click to return to CIT home page

Mulberry will cease to function on December 23, 2005!

Update October 5, 2005: On Sept 30, 2005, Cyrusoft, developer of Mulberry, declared bankruptcy. Mulberry will not longer be supported or developed by its manufacturer.

Mulberry users must choose and migrate to a new email client IMMEDIATELY.

Recommended email clients

All users: ObieMail, a web based email client accessible from most web browsers. (However, ObieMail will not work with Internet Explorer on Mac OS 9 or X.) Go to http://mail.oberlin.edu to log into ObieMail.

Mac OS X users: Mail (included with OS X) or Thunderbird (available from Mozilla.org)

Mac OS 9 users: ObieMail with Netscape 7.0.1 only. ObieMail will not work with other OS 9 web browsers. (Note: OS 9 users are encouraged to upgrade to OS X, as OS 9 support is decreasing.)

Windows users: Thunderbird (available from Mozilla.org;compatible with Windows 98, ME, NT 4, 2000, XP; XP recommended)

We strongly discourage the use of Outlook and Outlook Express due to security and virus issues.

Linux users: Thunderbird (available from Mozilla.org)

Important Notes:

  • Moving address books from Mulberry to Thunderbird on Macintosh does not work well. For assistance, please contact the Help Desk.
  • Shared address books will no longer be available. We are looking at alternative mailing list functions. Faculty who are currently using shared address books for class lists should use Blackboard instead. Contact the Help Desk if you have questions.
