ObieID |

|
Your ObieID is your main account at Oberlin College. This one account - and one password - gives you access many resources (more details below), including your e-mail, Novell Netware resources (LOCKER space - personal storage space on a centralized server), Network Authentication, access to office and lab computers, and access to oncampus.oberlin.edu (your Blackboard account). In addition, if you request a web account, your ObieID will also provide access to that account. (Note: group web accounts are not accessed using your ObieID. A separate account is provided for access to group accounts.)
Click here or on the Oberlin Self Service link above to read more about ObieID Self Service and Password-Changing. E-mail is provided to all Oberlin College personnel - faculty, staff, and students. Students are allocated 50 MB of space on the e-mail server, and faculty and staff each receive 100 MB. All e-mail is processed through a spam filter prior to delivery in in-boxes. You can read more about e-mail on campus by clicking on the E-mail link at the left. Novell Netware resources provide you with access to the following:
Network Authentication: Your ObieID is also the account used to authenticate to the network every 28 days. Every 28 days, you will be required to open a web browser and enter your ObieID acount name and password. This will then allow you to fully access the Internet and other network resources. Complete details about Network Authentication can be found online. Blackboard (oncampus.oberlin.edu) is the communication tool used by Oberlin College. It functions as both a Course Management System and a Community Suite, providing customized displays of information based on your roles and/or courses attending here at Oberlin College. You can read more about it by clicking on the Blackboard link at the left.
