shanxi agricultural university centennial celebration

The University warmly invites you to attend the Celebration on August 26th, 2007!

Dear Friends,

In August 2007, Shanxi Agricultural University will celebrate its 100th anniversary. As time brings great changes to the world with the span of one hundred years, so SXAU has undergone many changes over the century. The University dates back to 1907 when Oberlin Shansi Memorial School (or the Ming Hsien School in Chinese) was founded by Mr. Kong Xiangxi (Mr. H.H. Kung). In 1940, Ming Hsien College of Agricultural and Engineering was established and offered a three-year degree program. Three years later, the college's name was shortened and it began to offer a four-year program. The institution became known as Shanxi Agricultural College only after it began to be run by Shanxi Provincial Government in October, 1951. In 1979, it was classified as one of the key universities in China and changed its name for the last time, becoming Shanxi Agricultural University.

Over 100 years of growth and development, generations of Shanxi Agricultural University staff (including foreign teachers) and students have made unremitting efforts. Now the University has become one of the national famous institutions of higher education with degrees offered in disciplines as diverse as Agriculture, Science, Engineering, Economics, Management, Art, and Education. The goal of Shanxi Agricultural University is to become one of the first class universities in China within the coming several years.

We would like to thank you for your contribution to the University during and after your stay here. Without your concern and support, without the spirit of Shanxi Agricultural University, "practical, vigorous, striving towards solidarity and enterprising," the University could not have made such achievements. Shanxi Agricultural University will celebrate its 100th Anniversary during late August, 2007. On August 26, we will hold the Centennial Celebration. The University warmly invites you to attend the Celebration. If you can attend, please e-mail to fanbx@sxau.edu.cn as early as possible. We very much look forward to seeing you at SAU in August.

Best Regards!
