Much of the light fixtures work by pushbutton switches on very old wiring but there are some 3-prong outlets around. The basement tends to flood and I have little confidence in the washing machine. The front porch and the little balcony off the attic are great. It's all one could hope for in an off-campus Oberlin student house. Temperature Is the residence well insulated? No Are there window screens? Yes Are there storm windows? Yes Is the residence warm enough? Yes, but it's very expensive to heat Is it hard to regulate the heat? (For example, does the thermostat work? Do you have to open windows in the winter?): No Comments on any of the above (temperature): There is one thermostat for the house and the heat is by forced air. The living room stays delightfully cool in summer. The south upstairs room has no heating vents and I'd recommend a space heater. We generally kept the heat very low to save money. Relationship With Landlord Does s/he enter the premises without your consent or without giving legal notice? No Have you observed on the part of the landlord/landlady discrimination on the basis of sex, race, religion, sexual orientation, etc.? No Is the landlord/landlady willing to make repairs? If yes, comment on how promptly (below): Yes Have you had any disagreements with your landlord/landlady concerning who has the responsibility for making the repairs? No Do you expect to have any problems getting your security deposit returned? If yes, why? (Explain below.): No Have you had any major disagreements with your landlord/landlady? (Explain below.): No If yes, have you taken any legal action concerning the disagreement? (Explain below.): No Explanations and comments: Jane generally respects us and our space. She has made numerous improvements since we moved in, but isn't uptight about the wear college students inflict on a house. Sometimes her communication can be a bit strained but on the whole she is a decent landlady. Neighborhood & Location Are your neighbors towns-people, students, or a mix? Townspeople For whom is the noise level appropriate? Sleeping baby Problems with location? None of the above Comments on the neighborhood: Soem people think it's too far from campus but we don't. We are friends with some of the neighbor children.
